GOVT ENGINEERING COLLEGE, JABALPUR (MP),INDIA

Jabalpur is a cradle of education in India. It has a number of universities under which institutes among them is Govt Engineering College, found in 1947 as Government Engineering College, even before the formation of present Madhya Pradesh. The college was declared autonomous in the year 1998 by the government of M.P. Presently, JEC offers BE degree courses in seven disciplines and nine post graduate courses in various fields; three PG courses in Applied Science and MCA. The college is now affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi Technical University, Bhopal. Sufficient facilities are available for the teachers and students of Applied Sciences and various engineering disciplines for doing their research work and their PhD and D Sc. Degrees. About sixty teachers/students have been awarded Ph.D. degree from this college. To keep in consonance with the fast emerging technologies, JEC is taking a lot of initiatives by revitalizing its courses and taking many projects in thrust area of engineering and technologies. It celebrated 50 year of its golden existence in the year 1997 when his Excellency Dr.Shankar Dayal Sharma graced the historic occasion with his benign presence. From the date of its establishment, the college is having highly equipped useful laboratories which were not available in any other part of this country. At present, this college is having seven graduations and thirteen post graduation
Campus of JEC, Jabalpur:
It stands majestically on the Topic of Cancer and on the banks of the river Narmada which flows through the white marble rocks cluster - site known for its munificence beauty in the world. Nature has also bestowed its unique beauty to the college by providing a beautiful lake as its natural background. The college spreads over an area of 255 acres in the north-eastern outskirts of Jabalpur at Dindori road. JEC Jabalpur is a small township in itself. Consciously developed, the campus has retained and increased its green cover, rich in natural flora and fauna. The campus is connected to the city proper, it is 6 kms. away from the Railway station and about 8 kms. from local Bus stand. Frequent auto rickshaw, taxi and private bus services has facilitated conveyance for the students to and from the city. However, most facilities are available on campus itself, including a bank, State Bank of India, a Post Office and a well equipped Guard House and NCC cell. All students and most faculties live on campus, in student hostels and JEC staff quarters. Hostel facilities
The College campus has 9 hostels for boys with a capacity of 814 students. There is a separate hostel for girls with a vey limited accomodation of 100 students. The college authorities are making every possible effort to overcome this hurdle, by the construction of new rooms, which is becoming possible with the completion of the new girls hostel .
